Lead Speech-Language Pathologist

Encompass Health seeks a Speech Therapy Team Leader to guide a skilled speech-language pathology team in our inpatient rehabilitation hospital. In this role, you will evaluate and treat adults with communication and swallowing disorders while coordinating interdisciplinary care with PT, OT, nursing, and physicians. You will mentor staff, support scheduling and quality initiatives, and ensure regulatory compliance. Lead and coordinate daily operations of the speech therapy team in an inpatient rehabilitation setting Evaluate patients with communication and swallowing disorders and develop evidence-based treatment plans Provide direct speech-language pathology treatments and document progress according to regulatory and hospital standards Collaborate with an interdisciplinary rehab team including PT, OT, nursing, and physicians to optimize patient outcomes Mentor, coach, and support speech therapists and assistants; facilitate training and skills development Participate in care conferences, family education, and discharge planning to ensure continuity of care Monitor quality, productivity, and compliance metrics; support performance improvement initiatives Assist with scheduling, caseload management, and resource allocation for the speech therapy team Ensure adherence to ethical, legal, and accreditation standards for speech-language pathology services Contribute to clinical programs, protocol development, and specialty initiatives within Encompass Health Speech-language pathology evaluation and treatment Swallowing (dysphagia) assessment and management Inpatient rehabilitation care Interdisciplinary care coordination Clinical documentation and EMR use Team supervision and staff mentoring Care planning and patient/family education Quality and performance improvement Regulatory and compliance knowledge in healthcare Time management and caseload management Medical Insurance Dental Insurance Vision Insurance Life Insurance 401k Current state licensure as a Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech-Language Pathology (CCC-SLP) preferred or in progress Basic Life Support (BLS) certification Experience in inpatient rehabilitation or acute care preferred
