Special Education Teacher – Preschool/Kindergarten Bases ProgramLong Term SubstituteJob DescriptionQualifications: CT teaching certification in Special Education K-12 (165) Experience with students with Autism and developmental delaysExperience with Applied Behavior Analysis, Discrete Trial Instruction preferredExperience with early intervention, ages 3-6 preferredPossesses excellent written and verbal communication skillsMust be flexible, creative, and demonstrate strong organizational skillsMust be highly motivated and self-directedResponsibilities: Work collaboratively as a member of the interdisciplinary team to support students with academic, communication, socialization, and behavioral challenges who receive special education services in the BASES ProgramCollaborate closely with preschool and kindergarten teachers to ensure that students benefit from their time with non-disabled peersProvide case management, including development, implementation, and monitoring of IEP goals and objectives; collaborate with general education teachers; lead team meetingsCollect and manage data pertaining to IEP goals and objectives and Behavior Intervention PlansEnsure that all related services, accommodations, and modifications are being implemented in the appropriate settingsConduct standardized testing and use this information to review and revise current IEP goals and objectivesAdapt and modify curriculum materials and instructional approachesImplement and monitor behavior support and incentive plans for assigned studentsCommunicate regularly with familiesLead a team of paraeducators and behavior techniciansParticipate in PPTs and other meetings for assigned students and come prepared to present testing results and up-to-date information on progress toward goals and objectivesServe as a resource to the general education staff in regards to working with a diverse learner populationParticipate in professional development and other meetings with the special education department and school-wide facultyOther duties as assigned
