This highly autonomous leadership role will be responsible for designing, developing, and launching new commercial auto products through embedded channels and traditional brokerage distribution. Core responsibilities include preparing and presenting carrier and reinsurance submissions; developing underwriting guidelines, rates, and policy forms; securing and navigating capacity; launching programs with distribution partners; and scaling the portfolio while managing its financial performance and P&L. The Director will lead the cross-functional execution required to take each program from concept to profitable scale. This role requires both deep underwriting expertise and demonstrated experience building and operating insurance programs. The successful candidate must be able to evaluate and write complex submissions, develop and defend rates and underwriting guidelines, and bring new programs from concept through launch and profitable scale. Candidates must have a minimum of eight years of experience spanning commercial auto underwriting, product and guideline development, program management, and production. Relevant classes may include non-trucking commercial auto, livery, gig economy, rental vehicles, delivery, medical transportation, and hired and non-owned auto. Candidates whose commercial auto experience is limited exclusively to trucking will not be considered. Ideal candidates will have a strong track record of managing carrier and reinsurance relationships, experience building insurance products or programs from the ground up and scaling them to at least $10 million in gross written premium within their first two years, commercial ownership that includes production and P&L responsibility, and the entrepreneurial mindset required to thrive in a high-growth, innovative environment. This is not a traditional carrier underwriting position or a general program-management role. We are looking for someone who combines hands-on underwriting credibility with the ability to build, launch, and scale a commercial auto program. Competitive compensation includes a competitive base salary, uncapped incentive compensation, equity, and outstanding long-term leadership growth opportunities.
