K–12 School-Based Academic Tutor

City Year is seeking an Academic Tutor to support students’ academic and social-emotional growth in partner public schools. In this full-time role, you will provide small-group and one-on-one tutoring in core subjects, track student progress, and collaborate with teachers to align support with classroom instruction. You will serve as a mentor and positive role model, helping students build confidence, set goals, and develop effective learning habits. Provide targeted academic tutoring in core subjects during and after school Offer one-on-one and small-group mentoring to support student engagement and growth Collaborate with teachers to reinforce classroom instruction and behavior expectations Track and document student progress and participation in learning activities Support classroom management and create an inclusive, encouraging learning environment Plan and lead enrichment, homework help, and intervention sessions Communicate regularly with school staff and City Year team members about student needs Participate in ongoing training, coaching, and professional development sessions Model positive behavior, social-emotional skills, and leadership for students Contribute to a collaborative, equity-focused team culture within the school Tutoring in math and reading Classroom support and management Lesson reinforcement and academic intervention Student progress monitoring and basic data entry Youth mentoring and relationship-building Communication with teachers and school staff Time management and organization Basic technology/computer skills Facilitation of small-group learning Cultural competence and inclusive practices Medical Insurance Dental Insurance Vision Insurance Life Insurance 401k Eligible to serve as an AmeriCorps member Background check clearance Experience working with youth (volunteer or paid) preferred Training in tutoring or mentoring (preferred)
