About the Opportunity: A well-established MEP and fire protection consulting firm in Manhattan is growing and looking for a Fire Protection and Plumbing Engineer to join its team. The firm has hired steadily this year, has very low turnover, and runs a busy, fast-moving practice with a steady flow of projects across New York City. If you're a strong, efficient designer who likes seeing a lot of work move across your desk, this is a great place to build your career.
What You'll Do:
  • Design sprinkler, standpipe, and fire pump systems for commercial, residential, and mixed-use buildings in NYC
  • Design domestic water, sanitary, storm, and gas piping systems
  • Perform hydraulic calculations and size fire protection and plumbing systems
  • Produce clear, accurate construction drawings in Revit and AutoCAD
  • Make sure designs meet NFPA standards, the NYC Building Code, NYC Plumbing Code, and FDNY requirements
  • Coordinate with the mechanical and electrical teams on multiple projects at once
What We're Looking For:
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Fire Protection, or a related engineering field
  • 4 to 5+ years of fire protection and/or plumbing design experience with an MEP consulting firm
  • Solid working knowledge of NFPA 13, 14, and 20
  • Hands-on experience with Revit and AutoCAD
  • Familiarity with hydraulic calculation software
  • Someone who works quickly and accurately, can handle several projects at once, and takes pride in turning out quality drawings
Nice to Have:
  • EIT, FE, or NICET certification
  • Experience with NYC DOB and FDNY filings
