Position Summary: The Chief Financial Officer (the “CFO”) is responsible to the Head of School and serves on the School Leadership Team (the “SLT”). Working closely with the SLT and appropriate trustee committees, the CFO manages the resources of Far Hills Country Day School to support students and employees, enabling students to achieve success in the modern world through academic excellence and character development. The CFO is responsible for the fiscal management of the School and oversees the planning, control, accounting, and reporting of income, expenses, and contributions, as well as the School’s invested funds and retirement assets. The CFO also oversees the non-academic operations of the School, including the physical plant and grounds, food services, auxiliary services, risk management and insurance, security, human resources, technology systems, and city, state, and federal government compliance. At the request of the Head of School, the CFO attends regular meetings of the Board of Trustees in order to provide full, accurate, and complete management and financial information as necessary to assist the Board in meeting its fiduciary responsibilities. Additionally, the CFO serves as an active member of the Finance Committee and attends all finance, investment, risk, and buildings and grounds Committee meetings, as well as any ad hoc Committee meetings concerning finance, plant, or compensation. The CFO is the primary point of contact for, and therefore maintains professional relationships with, the School’s banks, lawyers, auditors, investment managers, insurance carriers, architects, contractors, key vendors, and governmentregulators.
Qualifications: Strong finance-based analytical skills 7 - 10 years' of finance experienceCPA or MBA preferred but not required Prior experience working in independent school or nonprofit organizations
