Assistant Director of Patient Billing, Bureau of Revenue The Bureau of Revenue within the Division of Finance is seeking to hire an Assistant Director of Patient Billing. Reporting to the Director of patient billing you will be assigned to supervise daily billing and accounting operation with a talented team of health insurance billers within the patient billing unit. Job duties and responsibilities include overseeing daily billing and collection activities for all services provided by DOHMH, identifying and reporting all clinical documentation or billing inaccuracies, providing support and billing guidance and recommendations for claim resolution to billing team, validating timeliness and performance of claim processing in the billing unit to maximize revenue, and performing basic tasks of provider credentialing and managed care health plan network contracting.
Preferred skills include: 3-5 years of supervisory experience in the healthcare industry, experience with Article 28, 31, and 36 clinics billing, extensive knowledge of CPT-4, HCPCS, ICD-10 coding principles, working knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy and physiology, knowledge and experience billing Medicare/Medicaid and other third-party health payers, advanced proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel, ability to multi-task and perform accounting computations, extensive knowledge of accounting and auditing experience, and strong analytical and detailed oriented skills. Minimum qualifications include a baccalaureate degree from an accredited college or university, including or supplemented by 24 semester credits in accounting, including one course each in advanced accounting and auditing; or a valid New York State Certified Public Accountant license. To be eligible for placement in Assignment Level II individuals must have, in addition to meeting the minimum requirements, at least one year of experience as an Accountant - Assignment Level I or at least two years of satisfactory full-time professional accounting or auditing experience.
