The Community Walks held in hundreds of communities across the country, are the core of the Out of the Darkness movement, which began in 2004. These events give people the courage to open up about their own connection to the cause, and a platform to create a culture that's smarter about mental health. Friends, family members, neighbors and coworkers walk side-by-side, supporting each other and in memory of those we've lost. Photographers, ideally with live event experience, are needed for the following for walk events: Staten Island Walk | Sunday, September 20 | Wolfe's Pond Park Brooklyn/Queens Walk | Sunday, October 4 | Cadman Plaza Park Bronx Walk | Sunday, October 11 | Starlight Park New York City Walk | Sunday, October 25 | Pier 16 & 17 - Seaport District Photo rights will be given to AFSP and photographer credit will be given if photos are publicized. A few selects for the event recap will be needed within 24 hours and full album needed within 7 days post-event.
