High Impact Phonics Tutor

High Impact Phonics Tutor Enrichednyc is seeking tutors to work in NYC public schools in the Bronx, Brooklyn and Queens, three days per week, during school hours for 10 week tutoring cycles. The positions are all in-person and may start as early as 8:00 AM until approximately 2:30 PM. Tutors will work with small pods of K-3rd grade students using the Orton Gillingham method to improve reading skills. The ideal candidate has an education degree or a degree in a related field and experience working with children in a classroom setting. Teaching certification is not required, but familiarity with the science of reading is preferred. Candidates will need to be cleared by PETS- the NYC DOE fingerprint clearance system, participate in two zoom interviews, provide two professional references and agree to participate in 3-5 virtual Orton Gillingham training sessions. Candidates will also be required to monitor student progress each week and complete a simple report card at the end of the tutoring run. Tutors will be trained and supported by the administrative staff of Enrichednyc. The ideal candidate should be reliable, responsive, conscientious and hard working.
