Elementary School Teachers, Except Special EducationTeaching Assistants, Preschool, Elementary, Middle, and Secondary School, Except Special EducationChildcare WorkersAfter School Adventures - Group LeaderLocation: MISD Elementary CampusPosition Title: After School Adventures - Group LeaderTerms of Employment: As NeededPosition Reports to: After School Adventures - Site ManagerQualifications: High school diploma or GED preferred; Associate's degree or 60 hours from an accredited college or university preferredCertification in Child Care or SBEC certification preferredExperience working with school-age children requiredAbility to work well with children and provide positive behavior management techniques and developmentally appropriate activitiesAbility to communicate in both verbal and written forms with staff, children and parents in the program; Spanish for bilingual campuses preferredDemonstrated knowledge of child development theories and practices related to the physical, intellectual and social development of school-age students requiredDemonstrates the ability to work well with others and to serve as a positive role model to the childrenEssential Responsibilities and Duties: Assist the Site Manager in the implementation of program designed curriculum and daily operations at the assigned campusAdhere to all procedures and expectations outlined in district and program handbooks in order to serve as a role model to participants of the programLead a group of children with diverse abilities and needs to ensure safety and well-being of students at the assigned campusKeep an ongoing count of those participating in assigned group/area to ensure safety and proper supervision of the children at all timesConduct provided activities and character development practices with children according to the program scheduleAdhere to proper behavior management techniques as outlined by district standardsCommunicate clearly and effectively in a positive manner with children, parents, colleagues, visitors, and other district personnelEnsure maintenance and appropriate use of all building facilities, resources, supplies and equipment with care and pride; including organization, cleanliness and daily set-up of the programSupport the implementation of regular safety drills and proceduresAcknowledge all visitors and maintain a secure environmentAttend and actively participate in continuous improvement initiatives (ie. trainings, leadership meetings, etc.)Meet assigned deadlinesPerform other duties as assignedMental Demands/Physical Demands/Environmental Factors: Maintain emotional control under stressLifting more than 30 poundsFrequent standing, stooping, bending, pulling and pushing
