We know defense and we know aircraft systems.Job Summary:The Mechanical Engineer – Design for Manufacturing (DfM) is responsible for ensuring mechanical designs are optimized for manufacturability, assembly, quality, cost, and producibility within an aerospace and defense environment. This role works closely with design engineering, manufacturing, quality, supply chain, and suppliers to support the transition of products from concept through production and sustainment, while maintaining compliance with applicable industry standards, customer requirements, and configuration control processes.Duties/Responsibilities:Develop, review, and release mechanical designs, drawings, and specifications in accordance with aerospace standardsCollaborate with manufacturing, quality, supply chain, and program teams to ensure designs meet producibility, cost, schedule, and quality objectivesSupport prototype builds, first article inspections (FAI), and transition from engineering development to productionParticipate in and support Manufacturing Readiness Level (MRL) assessments and design reviews (PDR, CDR, PRR)Support supplier technical engagements, including design reviews and producibility assessmentsSupervisory Responsibilities:May support the development of training products for new engineers.May lead small engineering teams to support larger projects.Note: The duties and responsibilities described on this document are not necessarily a comprehensive list and additional tasks may be assigned to the employee from time to time; and the scope of the job may change as necessitated by business demands.Required Skills/Abilities:Excellent communication, organization, scheduling, and analytical skills requiredStrong understanding of Design for Manufacturing and Design for Assembly in regulated environments.Proficiency with aerospace-relevant CAD tools (e.g., Creo, NX, CATIA, SolidWorks).Familiarity with aerospace manufacturing processes (machining, sheet metal, composites, special processes).Ability to interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and technical standards.Strong analytical, problem-solving, and root cause analysis skills.Ability to work effectively across engineering, manufacturing, quality, and supply chain teams.Desired Skills/Abilities:Familiarity with AS9100 quality systems and aerospace configuration management practices.Experience with supplier technical management and contract manufacturers.Education, Experience and Certifications Required:Minimum:Bachelor's Degree in engineering or related STEM discipline3-5 years of relevant work experience in Mechanical Design or Manufacturing EngineeringMust be a U.S citizen.Must possess or be able to obtain a Secret security clearancePreferred:Master's degree in an Engineering discipline or other STEM related field5+ years of experience in defense industry or related areaSAE ASA-100 certificationNon-Destructive Testing (NDT) CertificationsPhysical Requirements:Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computerWhile primarily an office job, may require time at a manufacturing facility or other locationMust be able to lift up to 50 pounds at timesCONUS travel may be required from time to timeEqual Opportunity Employer/Protected Veterans/Individuals with Disabilities
