Medical-Surgical Intermediate Care Float Pool Registered Nurse

Saint Luke’s Hospital of Kansas City is seeking a Registered Nurse for our Med Intermediate Float Pool. In this role, you’ll provide high-quality, intermediate-level nursing care across multiple medical-surgical and step-down units within a leading tertiary care and teaching hospital. You’ll perform comprehensive assessments, administer medications and IV therapies, monitor complex patients, and respond promptly to changes in condition. Working in a collaborative, research-driven environment, you’ll partner with top clinicians, support patient and family education, and adapt quickly to diverse patient populations and workflows, while advancing your skills through ongoing professional development. Deliver intermediate-level bedside nursing care across multiple med-surg and step-down units as part of the float pool. Perform comprehensive assessments, develop and implement individualized care plans, and document in EHR systems. Administer medications, IV therapies, and treatments safely following hospital protocols and regulatory standards. Monitor patient status, recognize changes in condition, and escalate or intervene promptly. Collaborate with physicians, advanced practice providers, and interdisciplinary teams to coordinate patient care. Educate patients and families on conditions, treatments, and discharge plans to support safe transitions of care. Adapt quickly to different unit workflows, patient populations, and clinical priorities. Precept or mentor newer nurses and contribute to a culture of teamwork, safety, and continuous improvement.
