Outpatient Certified Medical Assistant (CMA)

Cone Health is seeking a Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) to support compassionate, high-quality care in our outpatient practices. In this role, you will room patients, obtain vitals and medical histories, assist with procedures, and ensure accurate EMR documentation. You will administer medications and vaccines as ordered, perform basic tests, and support patient education and follow-up care. Working within Cone Health’s collaborative, inclusive culture, you’ll partner closely with providers and nurses while growing your skills in a dynamic, community-focused healthcare environment. Provide direct patient care support to physicians and nurses in an outpatient setting Obtain and document vital signs, medical histories, and chief complaints Prepare exam rooms, equipment, and supplies for clinical procedures Administer medications and immunizations as ordered and within scope of practice Perform basic clinical tests, EKGs, and specimen collection/handling Accurately enter and update information in the electronic medical record (EMR) Schedule patient appointments and coordinate follow-up care and referrals Reinforce patient education, discharge instructions, and preventative care guidance Maintain infection control, safety, and quality standards in all clinical areas Collaborate with interdisciplinary care teams to support high-quality, compassionate care Vital signs measurement and clinical assessment support Electronic Medical Record (EMR) documentation (e.g., Epic or similar systems) Administering injections and immunizations Specimen collection, labeling, and basic lab procedures EKG performance and basic interpretation support Infection control and clinical safety protocols Patient scheduling and care coordination Medical terminology and clinical documentation accuracy Patient education and communication skills Teamwork and collaboration in a clinical environment Medical Insurance Dental Insurance Vision Insurance Life Insurance 401k Current Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) credential from an accredited organization (e.g., AAMA, NCCT, NHA) Active Basic Life Support (BLS) certification Eligibility for North Carolina credentialing and compliance standards Familiarity with HIPAA and infection control requirements
