Mission College invites qualified candidates to join our counseling department as a part‑time Learning Disability (LD) Specialist and Dual Services and Programs for Students with Disabilities (DSPS) Counselor. The role supports students across campus with specialized counseling, assessment, and course placement services.
Responsibilities:
Counsel and advise students on an appointment or drop‑in basis. Perform specialized work duties during registration periods. Teach Counseling courses as needed. Conduct academic and disability assessments and collaborate with faculty and services. Provide ongoing student follow‑up and case management. Collaborate with campus departments and maintain documentation. Foster a respectful, bias‑free environment in all interactions.
Minimum Qualifications:
LD Specialist: Master’s degree in learning disabilities, special education, counseling, psychology, or related field; 15 upper‑division or graduate semester units in learning disability or related assessment. DSPS Counselor: At least one of the following: Master’s in rehabilitation counseling; Master’s in counseling, psychology, or related field with 15+ upper‑division or graduate units in disability counseling, or Bachelor’s in marriage & family therapy with Licensed MFT status. Demonstrated understanding of diversity, equity, and inclusion for community‑college students.
