Project Executive | Lead the Department | Hybrid WFH/Office Position

Location: Downtown Chicago

Work arrangement: Hybrid, with up to two days working from home

Salary: Up to $200,000 base

Travel: No regular travel required

The Opportunity: A well-established, nationally active design-build contractor is seeking a Project Executive to lead high-profile construction work and help guide the continued growth of its Chicago team. With more than 70 years in business, the company delivers complex projects across commercial, hospitality, and light industrial markets. Project values typically range from $30 million to more than $100 million. Although projects span multiple markets nationally, this role is based in Chicago and does not require regular travel. You’ll provide leadership and oversight to an integrated, in-house team that includes architecture, design, preconstruction, and construction professionals. The role combines executive-level project leadership with the opportunity to hire, develop, and mentor Project Managers and Senior Project Managers.

What You’ll Do: Provide executive oversight across major design-build projects from early planning through completion. Lead and support Project Managers and Senior Project Managers responsible for project delivery. Coordinate closely with in-house architecture, design, estimating, and construction teams. Maintain strong relationships with clients, design partners, subcontractors, and internal stakeholders. Monitor project performance, including budgets, schedules, quality, safety, and client satisfaction. Help resolve complex project challenges and keep teams aligned on decisions and priorities. Recruit, develop, and mentor project management talent. Contribute to project planning, staffing, business development, and the continued growth of the Chicago operation.

What We’re Looking For: Significant experience leading commercial construction projects, including work at the Project Executive, Director, or senior Project Manager level. A background in design-build delivery and the ability to work effectively with in-house design and construction teams. Experience overseeing large, complex projects, ideally in the $30 million to $100 million-plus range. A strong record of developing project teams and building lasting client relationships. The judgment and communication skills to lead at both the project and team level.
