Heavy Equipment Diesel Mechanic

Location: Denver metro area

Pay: $30.00 - $38.00/hour

Schedule: Monday-Saturday | 7:00 AM - 5:00 PM (hours may vary based on paving and construction schedules)

Sign-On Bonus: $3,000

About the Opportunity: We are hiring an experienced Heavy Equipment Diesel Mechanic to join a well-established, family-owned company that has been serving the construction industry since 1906. This role is responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining a fleet of heavy construction equipment used in asphalt paving, earthmoving, and aggregate operations. This is primarily a field service position, with approximately 80% of work performed at active job sites. Mechanics are provided with a fully equipped company service truck and service a territory within approximately 50 miles of the Lipan Plant, from Longmont to Sedalia.

Responsibilities:

Inspect, diagnose, repair, and perform preventative maintenance on heavy construction equipment
Troubleshoot diesel engines, hydraulic systems, electrical systems, and mechanical components
Respond to equipment breakdowns and perform repairs in the field
Complete maintenance reports and repair documentation accurately
Maintain service truck inventory, tools, and equipment
Minimize downtime through timely maintenance and repairs
Follow all company safety procedures and industry best practices
Work independently in both field and shop environments
Equipment Serviced
Mechanics will work on a variety of heavy equipment, including:
CAT 980 Loaders
ExcavatorsMilling Machines
Asphalt Pavers
RollersScrapersCompaction Equipment
Asphalt Production EquipmentCAT 6090 and other heavy construction equipment

Qualifications:

Minimum 2 years of experience repairing and maintaining heavy equipment
Strong diesel engine troubleshooting and repair skills
Experience with hydraulic, electrical, and mechanical systems
Valid driver's license required
Clean motor vehicle record with no DUI or reckless driving violations
Ability to work independently in a field environment
Strong commitment to safety, reliability, and quality workmanship
Schedule & Work Environment
Monday-Saturday, typically 7:00 AM - 5:00 PMOvertime regularly available with opportunities to work 60+ hours per week
Hours may fluctuate based on asphalt production and paving schedules
Travel throughout a 50-mile service territory from Longmont to Sedalia
Approximately 80% field work at active construction sites
Company-provided service truck
