Job Description GRIT Works Diesel Repair is looking for an experienced Diesel Mechanic / Trailer Technician to join our team. We need someone who is comfortable working on semi trucks and commercial trailers, can diagnose problems, and takes pride in doing the job right.
Responsibilities:
- Diagnose and repair Class 8 semi trucks and commercial trailers
- Perform preventative maintenance and DOT inspections
- Diagnose engine, electrical, air, brake, suspension, and driveline issuesPerform repairs on brakes, drums, wheel seals, bearings, hubs, slack adjusters, and chambers
- Repair air brake systems, air lines, air bags, and suspension components
- Diagnose and repair truck and trailer electrical and lighting issuesPerform clutch, transmission, driveline, cooling system, and other mechanical repairs based on experience
- Perform trailer repairs including landing gear, doors, hinges, latches, and related hardware
- Perform minor welding and fabrication as needed
- Identify additional safety or maintenance concerns during inspections
- Complete work orders accurately and document repairs performed
- Maintain a clean and organized work area
- Work efficiently while maintaining quality and safety standards
Qualifications:
- Minimum 1 year of diesel, semi-truck, or trailer repair experience
- Experience working on Class 8 trucks and/or commercial trailers
- Knowledge of air brake, suspension, electrical, and mechanical systems
- Strong troubleshooting and diagnostic skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Must have your own basic hand tools
- Reliable transportation and dependable attendance
- Welding experience is a plusDOT inspection certification is a plus
- Experience with PACCAR, Cummins, Eaton, or similar heavy-duty systems is a plus
