Collaborate with civil, structural, mechanical, and architectural engineers on multidisciplinary projects. Perform electrical studies, system analysis, and equipment selection. Develop SCADA, controls, instrumentation, and communications systems. Work directly with municipal clients, contractors, and project stakeholders. The Projects Your expertise will support a diverse portfolio of municipal and public infrastructure projects, including: Water treatment facilities Wastewater treatment facilities Lift stations and pump stations Electrical distribution systemsSCADA and PLC systems Instrumentation and controls Utility infrastructure Public works facilities Facility upgrades and rehabilitation projects New municipal infrastructure The Roles You'll work alongside Project Managers and multidisciplinary engineering teams to design, coordinate, and deliver electrical systems that become integral components of critical municipal infrastructure. Key areas of responsibility include: Designing low- and medium-voltage electrical distribution systems. Preparing electrical plans, single-line diagrams, schematics, wiring diagrams, and specifications. Developing SCADA, PLC, instrumentation, and controls systems. Performing short circuit, protective device coordination, arc flash, and related electrical studies. Coordinating electrical design with structural, civil, mechanical, and architectural disciplines. Supporting construction observation, testing, startup, troubleshooting, and commissioning. Preparing technical reports, specifications, cost estimates, and client presentations. Managing project schedules, budgets, and technical deliverables. Building trusted relationships with municipal clients and project partners. You Are The Right Candidate If…In addition to electrical engineering experience, serving municipal clients and navigating public-sector projects is highly valued. The ideal candidate understands not only electrical design, but also the importance of building trusted, long-term relationships with public agencies and community leaders. You are the right candidate if you bring: Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or Electrical Engineering Technology from an ABET-accredited program.2 - 20+ years of progressive electrical engineering experience, with positions available within the firm across multiple experience levels. Experience designing low- and medium-voltage industrial electrical systems. Knowledge of short circuit analysis, protective device coordination, and arc flash studies. Experience preparing electrical schematics, P&IDs, single-line diagrams, and construction documents. Proficiency with AutoCAD and engineering design software. Experience supporting construction, equipment startup, and commissioning. Illinois or Wisconsin Professional Engineer license (or ability to obtain).Strong communication, technical writing, and project coordination skills. Microsoft Teams Compensation and Benefits: Base compensation is competitive and commensurate with experience, qualifications, professional licensure, and leadership responsibilities. The firm is hiring several positions at multiple levels within the Electrical Engineering team: Position Experience Base Compensation Staff Engineer 2–5 Years$75,000 -$100,000+Project Engineer 6–9 Years$90,000–$120,000+Senior Project Engineer 10–14 Years$110,000–$135,000+Senior Project Engineer 20+ Years$125,000–$155,000+Lead Electrical Engineer 20+ Years$150,000–$190,000+Compensation within each range is based on experience, technical expertise, professional licensure, project management responsibilities, leadership experience, and overall qualifications. Additional Compensation Overtime × the regular hourly rate for employees working more than 40 hours per week. Performance-based Year-End Bonus recognizing individual contributions and the firm's overall success. Profit Sharing based on firm performance.
