We are seeking a strategic and commercially minded Director of Trade Marketing to lead the development and execution of trade marketing initiatives across a global fragrance portfolio. This role is ideal for a highly adaptable leader who thrives in a fast-paced environment, can drive complex cross-functional projects, and combines strong strategic thinking with exceptional business and financial acumen. The Director will serve as a key partner to senior leadership, global marketing, sales, finance, and licensing teams to shape commercial strategy, optimize portfolio performance, and ensure successful execution of innovation and launch initiatives. The ideal candidate is analytical, collaborative, and capable of translating data into actionable business recommendations. This is a temporary contract position that will go until the end of January. The pay range for this role is between $80-$90hr. Please candidates only local to NYC apply.
Key Responsibilities: Business Development & Commercial Strategy Co-lead the development and execution of the brand's global three-year strategic plan. Lead commercial business review preparation and presentations for executive leadership. Own monthly Innovation Master Plan updates and monitor commercial readiness across all initiatives. Develop and drive commercial strategies for new product launches. Partner with cross-functional teams to evaluate and size new business opportunities. Collaborate with pricing teams to develop pricing strategies for innovations and portfolio initiatives. Lead assortment optimization efforts, including discontinuation strategies and lifecycle management. Drive monthly 360-degree business reviews, providing sell-in and sell-out performance updates and recommendations. Partner with Trade Marketing on planogram strategy and execution briefs. Licensing & Portfolio Management Co-lead category expansion initiatives and evaluate new growth opportunities. Lead monthly business reviews with licensing partners and senior stakeholders. Analyze and communicate new launch performance, key learnings, and future launch plans. Oversee annual and mid-year license budget planning and updates. Manage boutique commercial activities, including price list updates, launch deployment, and forecast collection. Review and approve market activation requests to ensure brand alignment and commercial viability. Lead the development and implementation of Beauty Advisor incentive programs. Market & Commercial Excellence Lead planning and preparation for expert meetings, annual sales conferences, and key retailer presentations. Maintain commercial resources, tools, and communication platforms for global teams. Partner with Trade Marketing to develop and update Commercial Executional Guidelines (COMEX).Support retailer readiness and field execution strategies to ensure successful commercialization of new launches. Foster alignment between global strategy and local market execution.
Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Business, Finance, or related field; MBA preferred.8+ years of experience in trade marketing, commercial marketing, brand marketing, or related commercial functions. Experience within fragrance, beauty, luxury, consumer goods, or related industries strongly preferred. Demonstrated success leading complex, cross-functional projects and strategic initiatives. Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret business performance, financials, and market data. Experience managing budgets, forecasting, pricing strategies, and business planning processes. Advanced proficiency in Excel and presentation development. Exceptional communication and stakeholder management skills, including experience presenting to senior executives. Proven ability to influence decisions and drive results in a matrixed organization.
