Frontier Ambulance Solutions is seeking an experienced, hands-on Lead Ambulance Production Managerto oversee daily manufacturing operations while actively working alongside the production team.
This is not a desk-only management position. The ideal candidate will be a skilled builder, problem-solver, trainer, and team leader with experience manufacturing ambulances, emergency vehicles, specialty vehicles, commercial vans, buses, RVs, or similar custom-built equipment.
The Production Manager will be responsible for organizing workflow, maintaining quality, solving production challenges, and developing new employees into capable ambulance-production technicians.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead daily production of Type II ambulances and Type I and Type III remounts.
Work directly on the production floor alongside technicians.
Plan and assign work based on production schedules and delivery deadlines.
Train employees in ambulance construction, fabrication, electrical installation, cabinetry, vehicle upfitting, and quality-control procedures.
Create a structured training program for entry-level and developing technicians.
Evaluate employee skills and identify additional training needs.
Read and interpret drawings, wiring diagrams, specifications, work orders, and production documents.
Oversee vehicle disassembly, body preparation, remounting, system installation, finishing, and final inspection.
Troubleshoot electrical, mechanical, fabrication, fitment, and installation problems.
Ensure that tools, materials, components, and equipment are available before work begins.
Maintain production records, inspection checklists, and employee training documentation.
Enforce workplace safety, housekeeping, tool-control, and quality standards.
Conduct in-process and final quality inspections.
Reduce rework, material waste, and production delays.
Coordinate with company leadership, purchasing, engineering, vendors, and customers when necessary.
Help develop production procedures, work instructions, jigs, templates, and repeatable manufacturing processes.
Support compliance with applicable Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards and ambulance-industry requirements, including KKK-A-1822F, CAAS GVS, and customer specifications.
Preferred Experience:
The ideal candidate will have experience in one or more of the following areas:
Ambulance manufacturing or remounting
Emergency-vehicle or specialty-vehicle manufacturing
Commercial van or truck upfitting
RV, bus, trailer, marine, or custom-vehicle manufacturing
Automotive electrical systems and 12-volt wiring
Cabinetry, aluminum fabrication, welding, or metalworking
HVAC, oxygen, lighting, seating, flooring, and interior equipment installation
Production supervision or shop-floor leadership
Employee training and skilled-trades development
Required Qualifications:
At least five years of relevant vehicle-manufacturing, fabrication, upfitting, or related experience
Previous experience leading technicians or production employees
Strong hands-on mechanical, electrical, or fabrication ability
Demonstrated ability to train and develop employees with different experience levels
Ability to diagnose problems and implement practical solutions
Ability to organize multiple projects and maintain production deadlines
Strong attention to workmanship, safety, and quality
Ability to communicate clearly with employees, management, vendors, and customers
Ability to use common shop tools, measuring equipment, and production machinery safely
Valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record
Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and work in a physically active manufacturing environment
Preferred Qualifications:
Direct experience building or remounting ambulances
Knowledge of KKK-A-1822F, CAAS GVS, NFPA 1917, or related vehicle standards
Experience with automotive multiplex electrical systems
Welding, electrical, HVAC, ASE, or other relevant technical certifications
Experience creating standard operating procedures and quality-control systems
Experience developing apprentices or entry-level manufacturing employees
