Position Title: Finance Director

Position Summary: As the Finance Director of the Winchester Rescue Mission, you will hold a pivotaladministrative role responsible for the financial health of the WRM by overseeing accounting, bookkeeping, and financial reporting, providing direct assistance related to financial matters to seniorleadership staff. Reporting directly to the CEO, you will be in a support role responsible for variousfinancial administrative duties that include budgeting, managing bills and receipts, payroll functions, maintaining financial records, and ensuring adherence to financial regulations. The Finance Director will support long-term financial planning, manage relationships with external bookkeeping and financial agencies, and collaborate with senior leadership to implement sound financial practices for the WRM. Your administrative role will help senior leadership fulfill Mission obligations while ensuring alignment with the organization’s mission statement and core values of hospitality, ownership, passion, excellence, faith, unity, and learning.
Key Responsibilities: Financial Management and Reporting●Oversee day-to-day financial management, ensuring the accuracy and integrity offinancial records.●Review financial reports (monthly, quarterly, annual) for internal review and boardpresentations.●Track budget performance, identify variances, and provide recommendations to addressdiscrepancies.● Coordinate with external bookkeeping and financial agencies, ensuring accurate andtimely reporting of financial data and responding to requests as needed. Accounting and Bookkeeping:●Manage relationships with external agencies responsible for bookkeeping functions, suchas accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and general ledger entries.●Ensure timely and accurate processing of all financial transactions (invoices, payments, reimbursements).●Perform monthly reconciliations of bank and credit card statements, ensuring accuracyand compliance with accounting standards. Compliance and Audit Management:●Ensure WRM’s financial operations comply with all federal, state, and local regulations.●Assist in preparing for external audits, ensuring all financial requirements are met.●Maintain strong internal controls to safeguard financial resources. Financial Planning and Analysis●Provide financial forecasts and analysis to support strategic decision-making.●Analyze financial performance, identifying trends, risks, and opportunities forimprovement.●Assist in budgeting for programs and organizational needs, collaborating with CEO anddepartment heads for program-specific budget planning. Cash Management and Investments●Monitor cash flow to ensure sufficient liquidity for operational needs.●Work with leadership to align cash management practices with WRM’s financial goalsand priorities. Grant Management●Support the Development Department in preparing financial reports for grant proposalsand ensuring proper fund allocation.●Ensure financial data requirements are fulfilled for grants received Team Collaboration and Leadership●Help lead Finance Class as part of WRM Programs●Collaborate with the CEO and department heads to align financial goals withorganizational priorities.●Provide financial training and guidance to department heads, ensuring clarity inbudgeting and reporting. These key responsibilities are not all inclusive, and are subject to change at the discretion of the CEO.Other responsibilities may be assigned as necessary to meet the needs of the organization. All WRMpositions are subject to a background check to ensure compliance with insurance requirements.
Qualifications: ➢ Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. ➢Strong knowledge of not for profit financials. Minimum of 2-4 years of experience in financialmanagement, accounting, or bookkeeping.➢Thorough understanding of financial software and accounting systems.➢Outstanding written and oral communication skills; strong problem-solving and decision-makingskills; ability to prioritize tasks and manage time effectively; ability to work independently and aspart of a team; flexible and able to handle a wide range of tasks; discreet, diplomatic, displaysstrong interpersonal skills➢Excellent administrative and organizational skills with strong attention to detail.➢ Good understanding of Winchester and the surrounding area.
Working Conditions: ➢ This is a part-time, hourly position with a flexible starting pay range at $25/hr, depending on experience and qualifications. The role is primarily in-person at our Winchester office, with some flexibility for remote work, and there is potential for the position to grow into a full-time role over time.➢ Work location is 435 N Cameron Street or 2655 Valley Avenue in the City of Winchester.➢ Regular attendance at Mission meetings and training sessions is required.
