Long Island City, NY, US, 11101 Req ID: 58643 Category: Administration Position Summary The Instructor is responsible for providing initial and recurrent training for the Dispatch department including Dispatchers, Load Planners, Air Traffic Services and others, as required. The Instructor will work closely with the Manager System Operations Training to ensure that the training programs reflect published policies and that the best possible use of course delivery and technology is in place in all training programs.
Essential Responsibilities:
Provides training for Jet Blue crewmembers to include Dispatchers, Load Planners, other Instructors, and others, as required. Effectively and independently conduct assigned instructional events through their scheduled completion, maintaining effective communication, learner engagement, instructional quality, and the ability to provide required instruction, direction, feedback, and evaluation throughout the full duration of the event. Effectively and independently conduct assigned instructional events in accordance with the curriculum, lesson plan, applicable training standards, and regulatory requirements Actively manages the pace, depth, and delivery of instruction to make effective use of all time available, including providing additional explanation, practice, coaching, feedback, remediation, evaluation, or enrichment appropriate to learner performance. Assist with courseware development, audits, and other collateral duties Maintain Dispatch Crewmember qualification and currency Works occasional shifts in the SOC in qualified roles Other duties as assigned Minimum Experience and Qualifications High School Diploma or General Education Development (GED) Valid FAA Aircraft Dispatcher Certificate Two (2) years operational experience as an Aircraft Dispatcher in Part 121 Successful completion of Jet Blue's Dispatch qualification program and maintained currency Thorough understanding of 14 CFR Parts 65, 91, 110, 121, and other applicable regulations Thorough understanding of dispatch subjects and Air Traffic Control Excellent coaching skills and the ability to motivate and mentor students Proficient with the Microsoft Office suite Excellent written and verbal communication skills Project management skills and ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously Strong organizational skills and detail oriented Candidates must demonstrate Presentation Design, Communication, and Facilitation skills in a work sample assessment. Ability to work independently Available for occasional night travel (20%) Travel is required on an as needed basis to conduct training Must be in possession of valid travel documents with the ability to travel in and out of the United States Must pass a pre-employment drug test Must be legally eligible to work in the country in which the position is located Authorization to work in the US is required, this position is not eligible for visa sponsorship Preferred Experience and Qualifications Bachelor's Degree Jet Blue Dispatch experience Three (3) years of Leadership Experience Previous teaching, instructing, or training experience Experience with Flight Planning and Flight Following software Crewmember Expectations Regular attendance and punctuality Ability to work flexible hours and be available to respond on short-notice Able to maintain a professional appearance When working or traveling on Jet Blue flights, and if time permits, all capable crewmembers are asked to assist with light cleaning of the aircraft Must be an appropriate organizational fit for the Jet Blue culture, that is, exhibit the Jet Blue values of Safety, Caring, Integrity, Passion and Fun Promote Jet Blue's #1 value of safety as a Safety Ambassador, supporting Jet Blue's Safety Management System (SMS) components, Safety Policy and behavioral standards Identify safety concerns, issues, incidents or hazards that should be reported and report them whenever possible and by any means necessary including Jet Blue's confidential reporting systems (Aviation Safety Action Program (ASAP) or Safety Action Report (SAR)) The use of any automated tool during the interview process will disqualify a candidate from being considered for the position. (Sedentary) Compensation The base pay range for this position is between $90,000.00 and $160,000.00. Base pay is one component of Jet Blue's total compensation package, which may also include access to healthcare benefits, a 401(k) plan and company match, crewmember stock purchase plan, short-term and long-term disability coverage, basic life insurance, free space available travel on Jet Blue, and more.
