Job Title: Lead Field Service Technician
Location: This position requires 90% travel Department: Field Services
Reports To: Field Services Manager
Position Summary: Virginia Transformer is seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Field Services Technician to join our team. The Field Services Technician will be responsible for performing on-site service activities, diagnosing technical issues, and ensuring high-quality results. This position plays a vital role in delivering exceptional field services through hands-on technical expertise and excellent customer interaction.
Key Responsibilities:
  • On-Site Service: Perform field service activities, including installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of equipment.· Technical Problem Solving: Diagnose and resolve technical issues on-site, coordinating with internal teams as necessary to implement effective solutions.· Customer Interaction: Serve as the on-site contact for customers, providing clear communication regarding work progress, issues, and outcomes.· Documentation: Prepare detailed reports of on-site work, including diagnostics, resolutions, and recommendations for follow-up actions.· Equipment Management: Ensure all necessary tools, parts, and equipment are available and in good condition for on-site work.· Safety Compliance: Adhere to all safety protocols and guidelines while performing field service activities.
Qualifications:
  • Education: Associate degree in a technical field or related area is preferred.· Experience: Prior experience as a field service technician, ideally within the transformer or electrical industry.· Technical Skills:o Proficiency in troubleshooting electrical and mechanical systems.o Strong computer skills, particularly in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).· Soft Skills:o Excellent verbal and written communication skills to interact effectively with clients and internal teams.o Strong organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities in a dynamic environment.o Ability to remain calm under pressure and solve problems efficiently.· Interpersonal Skills:o Proven ability to work collaboratively in a team setting.o Commitment to delivering excellent customer service and resolving issues diplomatically.· Certifications: Relevant technical certifications (e.g., electrical systems, safety) are a plus
