COMPASS Paraprofessional - Junior High

Responsibilities: Support the implementation of individualized instructional and behavioural plans under the direction of certified staff. Provide one-on-one and small-group academic and behavioural support. Reinforce social-emotional and independent living skills throughout the school day. Assist with behaviour intervention strategies and de-escalation techniques as directed. Support students during classroom instruction, transitions, lunch, electives, community-based activities, and other school routines. Collect and document student progress and behavioural data as requested. Prepare instructional materials and assist in maintaining a structured, safe, and organised learning environment.

Qualifications: Must have an Illinois ELS Paraprofessional Educator Endorsement or the Short-Term Approval for the Paraprofessional or the ability to obtain one of these licence options prior to employment. Experience working with students with diverse learning, behavioural, and communication needs is preferred. Strong communication, organisational, and interpersonal skills. Ability to maintain confidentiality and work effectively as part of a team. Ability to assist students with academic, behavioural, and personal care needs as assigned. Must be able to pass a physical abilities test prior to starting employment.
