Senior Accountant

Key Responsibilities: Record and post daily accounting transactions for multiple properties and entities. Enter and maintain accounts payable, accounts receivable, tenant charges, rents, deposits, vendor invoices, and other property-related transactions. Maintain accurate general ledgers and chart of accounts for multiple entities. Perform monthly bank, credit card, and balance sheet reconciliations. Prepare monthly financial statements, including income statements, balance sheets, and property-level financial reports. Review accounting records for accuracy and ensure transactions are properly coded and recorded. Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable, including vendor payments, tenant billing, and collections-related accounting. Maintain and reconcile tenant and lease-related accounting records. Track property-level income and expenses and ensure transactions are properly allocated to the appropriate property and entity. Assist with CAM reconciliations, lease schedules, and other real estate accounting requirements. Enter and maintain accounting information in Yardi and Quick Books. Reconcile activity between Yardi, Quick Books, bank accounts, and other accounting records as applicable. Prepare cash flow reports and other financial reports for management. Assist with month-end and year-end closing processes. Assist with payroll processing and expense reimbursements as needed. Support year-end audits, tax preparation, and financial reviews. Work closely with property managers, vendors, management, and ownership to resolve accounting discrepancies and ensure accurate financial reporting. Identify discrepancies, investigate issues, and make necessary corrections. Maintain organized and accurate accounting records and supporting documentation.

Qualifications: 5+ years of accounting experience, preferably in real estate or property management. Strong hands-on experience with Quick Books and Yardi is required. Real estate/property management accounting experience strongly preferred. Must be comfortable entering transactions directly into the accounting system and handling day-to-day accounting functions, not solely reviewing or supervising the work of others. Strong understanding of general ledger accounting, reconciliations, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and financial statements. Knowledge of real estate accounting concepts, including property-level accounting, tenant activity, leases, and CAM reconciliations. Experience managing accounting for multiple properties, entities, or bank accounts. Strong attention to detail and accuracy. Excellent organizational and time-management skills. Ability to identify problems, research discrepancies, and resolve accounting issues independently. Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively with property managers, vendors, and management. Ability to work independently while managing multiple priorities and deadlines. Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred but not required. CPA preferred.
