Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania Join a High-Performance Transportation Team Andrews Logistics, an asset-based bulk transportation company, is looking for a high-performing Operations Supervisor to join our Pittsburgh team. We are looking for more than a dispatcher. We want an operations leader who takes ownership, builds strong relationships with professional drivers, delivers exceptional customer service, and understands what it takes to operate safely and efficiently in a fast-paced trucking environment. The Role:
Reporting to the Pittsburgh Terminal Manager, the Operations Supervisor is responsible for the day-to-day coordination and performance of an assigned team of professional drivers. You will manage dispatch, equipment utilization, driver communication, customer service, safety performance, and operational execution to ensure every load is handled safely, efficiently, and on time. Success in this position requires someone who can make decisions, solve problems, communicate effectively, and maintain control of a constantly changing transportation operation.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead and support an assigned team of professional drivers. Develop professional, productive relationships with drivers and understand what they need to succeed. Schedule and dispatch loads to maximize on-time service, driver productivity, and equipment utilization. Maintain accurate, real-time information within the company's dispatch and transportation management systems. Coordinate with the maintenance team to verify tractor and trailer availability. Communicate proactively with customers regarding load status, scheduling, delays, or other service issues. Provide drivers with complete and accurate dispatch information, customer requirements, and special instructions. Work closely with the Terminal Manager and other operations personnel to resolve operational challenges. Promote Andrews Logistics' Target Zero safety culture and hold yourself and the driver team accountable for safe operations. Monitor driver Hours of Service and electronic logs to maintain DOT compliance. Monitor driver performance, including safety, MPG, idle time, productivity, and service. Coordinate preventive maintenance, DOT inspections, testing, and other equipment requirements. Maintain accurate driver and operational paperwork. Identify problems early and take ownership of finding solutions. Support other terminal responsibilities as assigned by the Terminal Manager.
What We're Looking For:
The ideal candidate is a strong communicator, organized operator, problem solver, and team leader who performs well in a fast-moving transportation environment. You should be able to manage multiple priorities simultaneously while maintaining excellent relationships with drivers, customers, maintenance personnel, and fellow operations team members.
Preferred Qualifications:
1+ years of transportation, dispatch, logistics, or operations experience. Bulk tanker or tank-truck transportation experience strongly preferred. Experience dispatching and managing professional truck drivers. Working knowledge of DOT regulations and Hours of Service requirements. Understanding of tractor and trailer utilization and equipment allocation. Strong organizational and problem-solving skills. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Comfortable making operational decisions in a fast-paced environment. Intermediate computer, email, internet, and general PC skills. Experience with TMW, Samsara, electronic logging systems, or similar transportation technology is a plus. High school diploma or equivalent required; relevant experience may substitute for additional education.

Equipment Utilization: Tractors and trailers are effectively utilized, tracked, maintained, and positioned to support the operation. Operational Accuracy: Dispatch systems, driver paperwork, internal reports, and customer information are accurate and completed on time. Teamwork: Works effectively with drivers, maintenance, customers, terminal leadership, and other Andrews Logistics team members. Work Environment & Schedule This position is based at our Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania terminal and typically requires approximately 45–50 hours per week. The position is generally off most weekends; however, transportation is a 24/7 business, and the Operations Supervisor must be available when urgent operational situations require assistance. This is an on-site operational leadership position for someone who enjoys being close to the drivers, customers, equipment, and day-to-day operation.
