Position Summary: IZI Medical Products is seeking an experienced and hands-on Maintenance Lead to oversee the maintenance function within our medical device manufacturing facility. This is a working leadership role responsible for performing preventative and corrective maintenance while leading a small team of two maintenance technicians. The Maintenance Lead will ensure equipment reliability, minimize production downtime, and support a safe, compliant, and efficient manufacturing environment. The ideal candidate will have strong technical expertise in industrial maintenance, experience managing preventive maintenance programs, and the ability to troubleshoot and repair manufacturing equipment. Experience leading others is preferred.
Essential Responsibilities: Lead and participate in the day-to-day maintenance activities for manufacturing equipment, facility systems, and production support equipment. Supervise, coach, and provide direction to a team of two maintenance employees while remaining actively engaged in hands-on maintenance work. Develop, manage, and continuously improve the preventive maintenance (PM) program to maximize equipment uptime and reliability. Diagnose and troubleshoot electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and control system issues. Perform and support maintenance of PLC-controlled equipment and automation systems. Utilize a computerized maintenance management system (CMMS) or other maintenance software to schedule, document, and track maintenance activities. Maintain accurate maintenance records, equipment history, and work orders. Order replacement parts, source materials, and manage spare parts inventory to ensure timely repairs and minimize downtime. Coordinate with vendors and outside service providers as needed for specialized repairs or equipment support. Collaborate with Production, Engineering, Quality, and other departments to prioritize maintenance activities and support operational goals. Ensure compliance with all company safety policies, GMP requirements, and applicable regulatory standards. Identify opportunities for process improvements, equipment upgrades, and cost-saving initiatives. Participate in equipment installations, facility improvements, and capital projects as required. Support emergency maintenance needs and respond promptly to equipment issues during scheduled working hours.
Qualifications Required: High school diploma or GED required; technical certification or associate degree in Industrial Maintenance, Electrical Technology, or related field preferred. Minimum of 7–10 years of industrial maintenance experience, preferably within a manufacturing environment. Strong experience troubleshooting and repairing electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems. Working knowledge of PLC-controlled equipment and industrial automation. Experience developing and managing preventive maintenance programs. Experience using a computerized maintenance management system (CMMS) or similar maintenance software. Experience ordering parts, sourcing materials, and managing maintenance inventory. Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Outlook, Excel, and Word. Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills. Ability to prioritize multiple tasks in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Preferred: Previous experience leading or supervising maintenance personnel. Experience in a regulated manufacturing environment, preferably medical device, pharmaceutical, or FDA-regulated industries. Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing and continuous improvement principles.
Physical Requirements: Ability to stand and walk for extended periods throughout the manufacturing facility. Ability to lift up to 50 pounds on a regular basis. Ability to bend, stoop, kneel, climb ladders, and work in confined spaces when necessary. Ability to safely use hand tools, power tools, and maintenance equipment. Manual dexterity sufficient to operate tools, equipment, and computer systems.
Work Schedule: Monday through Friday, 9:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. This position is expected to spend the majority of the workday on the manufacturing floor supporting production operations.
