-Years of experience: genuine 15 – 20 years We are seeking an experienced Service Now Lead Administrator / Technical Platform Owner to provide hands-on technical leadership, administration, governance, and strategic oversight of our enterprise Service Now platform. This role serves as a senior internal technical authority for Service Now and combines advanced platform administration with responsibility for platform architecture, technical standards, integrations, security, upgrades, vendor oversight, and long-term platform health. The successful candidate will be a strong hands-on Service Now practitioner who can also operate at an enterprise level – translating business requirements into sustainable technical solutions, establishing platform standards, minimizing unnecessary customization and technical debt, and providing technical direction to internal teams and external implementation partners.
Key Responsibilities:
Serve as a senior technical owner and subject matter expert for the Service Now platform. Provide advanced hands-on Service Now administration, configuration, troubleshooting, and production support. Establish and enforce platform configuration, development, integration, security, and release-management standards. Promote an out-of-the-box first approach and minimize unnecessary customization and technical debt. Review and approve significant Service Now technical designs and platform changes. Support and continuously improve enterprise ITSM capabilities, including Incident, Major Incident, Problem, Change, Request, Knowledge, and Service Catalog. Support Strategic Portfolio Management (SPM) capabilities where applicable. Design, support, and provide technical oversight for integrations between Service Now and other enterprise systems. Lead technical activities associated with Service Now upgrades, patches, testing, releases, and environment management. Maintain appropriate platform security, roles, groups, ACLs, and privileged-access controls. Partner with Configuration Management teams to support effective CMDB and CSDM practices and data quality. Monitor platform health, performance, automation, and integration reliability. Provide technical oversight of Service Now consultants, implementation partners, and managed-service providers. Maintain platform architecture, technical standards, integration documentation, and operational procedures. Evaluate new Service Now capabilities and contribute to the long-term platform roadmap. Mentor other Service Now administrators and help build internal platform expertise.
Required Qualifications:
Approximately 5–8+ years of Service Now experience, including senior administrator, developer, technical lead, architect, or similar responsibilities. Service Now Certified System Administrator (CSA) certification. At least one current Service Now Certified Implementation Specialist (CIS) certification. Strong hands-on experience administering and configuring enterprise Service Now environments. Demonstrated experience with Service Now ITSM.Experience with Service Now upgrades, release management, testing, and production support. Experience with Service Now integrations using REST APIs, Integration Hub, MID Servers, or comparable technologies. Strong understanding of Service Now roles, groups, ACLs, and platform security. Experience with Flow Designer, Business Rules, Client Scripts, UI Policies, notifications, Service Catalog, and related platform capabilities. Working knowledge of CMDB and CSDM principles. Strong troubleshooting, analytical, documentation, and communication skills. Demonstrated ability to translate business requirements into scalable and maintainable technical solutions.
Preferred Qualifications:
CIS – IT Service Management certification. Multiple Service Now CIS certifications or Certified Application Developer (CAD).Experience with Service Now Strategic Portfolio Management (SPM) and Strategic Planning Workspace. Experience integrating Service Now with platforms such as Jira, Workday, identity-management solutions, monitoring platforms, or other enterprise applications. Strong knowledge of ITIL-based IT service management. Experience working in a large, complex or regulated enterprise. Experience directing or reviewing work performed by Service Now implementation partners or managed-service providers.
