Of Counsel – Labor & Employment

Key Responsibilities: Handle complex employment litigation involving discrimination, harassment, retaliation, wrongful termination, and related claims. Manage wage-and-hour matters, including FLSA claims and class and collective actions. Draft sophisticated motions, pleadings, briefs, and legal memoranda. Take and defend depositions and conduct witness interviews. Manage all phases of discovery, including written discovery, document production, and discovery disputes. Draft responses and position statements for the EEOC and California Civil Rights Department (CRD).Prepare matters for trial and arbitration and participate in hearings, arbitrations, and trials as appropriate. Advise employers regarding compliance with federal and California employment laws. Counsel clients regarding ADA/FEHA compliance and disability accommodations. Advise regarding FMLA, CFRA, PDL, and other employee leave requirements. Assist employers with workplace policies, employee relations, investigations, and risk management. Handle traditional labor matters as applicable, including collective bargaining, grievances, and arbitrations. Experience with MMBA compliance, PERB/NLRB proceedings, administrative hearings, and appeals is highly desirable. Develop strong client relationships and contribute to the continued growth of the Labor & Employment practice.

Qualifications: 7+ years of substantive labor and employment experience, with significant employment litigation experience. Active membership in the California State Bar and in good standing. Strong knowledge of California and federal employment law. Experience independently managing employment litigation matters from inception through resolution. Trial and/or arbitration experience is strongly preferred. Experience advising employers regarding employment-law compliance and day-to-day workplace issues. Traditional labor-law experience is advantageous. Excellent academic credentials. Exceptional legal research, analytical, writing, and oral advocacy skills. Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple sophisticated matters. Demonstrated ability to work independently while thriving in a collaborative, client-focused environment. Compensation & Benefits: The anticipated salary range for this California-based position is $205,000–$260,000, depending on experience, qualifications, skill set, and office location. The firm also offers:
