Data Service Architect, Network Planning

Contract Type: Permanent Location(s): McLean, VA, US Data Service Architect, Network PlanningPosition OverviewWe are seeking experiencedService Architectsto design, develop, and evolve end-to-end service architectures across our global network and satellite portfolio. These roles will play a critical part in translating business and customer requirements into scalable, reliable, and cost-effective service solutions. The Service Architects will work cross-functionally with engineering, operations, product management, and commercial teams to ensure service offerings are technically sound, operationally viable, and aligned with existing and planned infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities: Designend-to-end service architecturesspanning space, ground, and terrestrial network domains Translatecustomer and business requirementsinto detailed technical service designs Defineservice models, workflows, and operational processes(fulfillment, assurance, lifecycle management) Collaborate with: Network Engineering (capacity, topology, platforms) Product & Commercial teams (service definition and packaging) Developstandardized service templates and design frameworksto accelerate delivery Ensure solutions meetperformance, scalability, resilience, and security requirements Supportcost modeling and business case developmentfor new services Participate incustomer engagementsas the technical authority when needed Contribute totechnology roadmaps and architectural strategy

Required Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree inEngineering, Telecommunications, Computer Science, or related field 8+ yearsof experience in telecommunications, networking, or satellite services Strong understanding of: IP networking (MPLS, VPNs, routing protocols) Satellite communications and ground infrastructure Network service delivery models and lifecycle Experience withend-to-end service design across multiple domains Ability to translate complex technical concepts intoclear business-aligned solutions Strong stakeholder management and communication skills

Preferred Qualifications: Experience insatellite operators, service providers, or global network environments Familiarity with: Media architecture to include both Occassional and Dedicated solutions Network orchestration and automation platforms Cloud networking and hybrid architectures Knowledge ofITIL or service management frameworks Experience withproduct development and service commercialization Exposure toMEF standards or similar service frameworks Strategic thinking and system-level design Cross-functional collaboration Problem-solving in complex technical environments Customer-focused solutioning Strong written and verbal communication Why This Role MattersThese positions are critical to enabling the company’snext-generation service portfolio, ensuring we can deliver scalable, high-performance connectivity solutions to customers globally while optimizing network efficiency and cost. The salary range for this full-time position is $83,520 - $120,600 Salary ranges are determined by role, level, and geographic location. Individual compensation within the range is determined based on work location and a variety of factors, including job-related skills, experience, qualifications, and relevant education or training. Additional compensation and benefits may apply depending on the location and terms of employment.
