Orthopedic Trauma Registered Nurse Coordinator

Mission Health, a leading healthcare provider in Asheville, NC, is seeking a Clinical Nurse Coordinator to join our Healthcare & Medical Services team. In this role, you will coordinate patient care activities, support clinical staff, and ensure adherence to quality and safety standards. Responsibilities include overseeing patient flow, mentoring nurses, collaborating with physicians, and participating in care planning. Provide direct, evidence-based nursing care to orthopedic and trauma patients, including assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of care plans. Coordinate daily patient flow on the ortho trauma unit, including admissions, discharges, and transfers to support safe and efficient throughput. Serve as a clinical resource and role model for bedside nurses and support staff, offering guidance on complex patient situations and clinical decision-making. Collaborate closely with physicians, advanced practice providers, therapists, case managers, and other team members to ensure comprehensive, multidisciplinary care. Support post-operative care, including pain management, wound care, mobility and rehabilitation planning, and monitoring for complications. Facilitate effective patient and family education regarding diagnoses, treatments, medications, mobility precautions, and discharge instructions. Assist with staff scheduling, assignments, and coordination of coverage to maintain appropriate staffing and workload balance. Precept, mentor, and support new nurses and team members to promote competency, confidence, and professional development. Promote adherence to hospital policies, infection prevention practices, safety protocols, and regulatory standards on the unit. Participate in quality improvement and patient safety initiatives, data collection, and unit-based projects aimed at improving outcomes and patient experience. Use electronic health records accurately for documentation, order review, communication, and handoffs.
