Advanced Personnel Resources is seeking a detail-oriented Microbiology Lab Technician to support a growing laboratory team with our client in the Greensboro area. The Microbiology Lab Technician will prepare samples and perform microbiological and analytical testing of ingredients and environmental samples while following approved methods, quality standards, and safety procedures. The ideal candidate will be organized, dependable, comfortable working in a fast-paced laboratory environment, and committed to maintaining accurate records and high-quality results.
Key Responsibilities: Prepare samples for testing of indicator organisms, pathogens, and chemistry parameters. Apply proper aseptic techniques throughout daily laboratory activities. Prepare, maintain, and organize microbiological media, reagents, and related testing materials. Perform routine microbiological testing in accordance with approved methods, laboratory procedures, customer requirements, and applicable quality standards. Conduct quality-control activities, including incubator temperature monitoring, control-organism inoculation, media controls, and related documentation. Maintain accurate, complete, and timely records for all testing, quality-control, and laboratory activities. Monitor inventory levels and report expendable supplies and materials needed to support testing requirements. Perform routine preventive maintenance and laboratory upkeep, including cleaning, sanitizing, waste disposal, and maintaining an orderly work area. Help maintain laboratory equipment, supplies, quality assurance programs, and overall laboratory conditions. Work independently on assigned procedures and processes while meeting established turnaround times and quality expectations. Manage priorities and schedules to support both individual responsibilities and team goals. Communicate information, concerns, and updates clearly and promptly with laboratory team members and leadership. Follow all safety, hygiene, and environmental procedures; take responsibility for personal safety and the safety of others in the work area. Complete all required training and maintain competency in assigned procedures. Provide support for other laboratory testing and operational activities as needed based on workload, priorities, and business needs.
Minimum Qualifications: High School Diploma or GED required. At least 2 years of laboratory experience required. Working knowledge of microbiology laboratory concepts, practices, procedures, and testing techniques. Ability to follow detailed procedures, maintain accurate documentation, and work carefully with samples and laboratory equipment. Ability to work safely, hygienically, and efficiently in a laboratory setting. Strong organizational, communication, and teamwork skills. Ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining attention to detail.
Preferred Qualifications: Associate Degree or Bachelor's Degree in a life science or related field. Experience in a microbiology, food, environmental, pharmaceutical, or quality-control laboratory. Familiarity with sample preparation, microbiological media preparation, pathogen and indicator-organism testing, and quality-control procedures. Ability and willingness to travel, as needed. An equivalent combination of education and relevant experience may be considered.
