Senior Geologist

John Turner Consulting (JTC), an environmental and engineering consulting firm serving New England, is seeking an experienced Senior Geologist to join our Portsmouth, NH office. This is a strategic hire for a senior-level environmental professional ready to lead, mentor, and grow a team, with flexibility to work in a hybrid schedule. Your Role In this leadership role, you will oversee site investigation and remediation projects, supervise junior technical staff, and contribute to business development. You will bring a strong command of regulatory compliance at local, state, and federal levels, and have the potential to generate up to $1 million in annual revenue through project leadership and client management. Responsibilities Lead environmental site assessments, investigation, and remediation projects throughout New England Prepare and review technical documents, including sampling plans, remedial action plans, and regulatory reports Manage and mentor junior staff, promoting professional development and safety Interface with regulatory agencies such as NHDES, MassDEP, MEDEP, and EPASupport and drive business development, including proposal writing and client outreach Maintain responsibility for project scope, budget, and schedule Contribute to strategic planning and help grow JTC’s environmental practice Qualifications 15+ years in environmental consulting with increasing technical and leadership responsibilities New Hampshire Professional Geologist (PG) required; multi-state licensure is a plus Demonstrated ability to maintain and grow a portfolio of work worth $1M+ annually Strong knowledge of environmental programs (RCRA, CERCLA, TSCA)Hands-on experience with New England environmental regulations and permitting Successful collaboration with local, state, and federal regulatory agencies Experience managing and mentoring junior staff Strong organizational and communication skills Bachelor’s degree in Geology, Environmental Engineering, or a related field required; Master’s degree preferred Why Join JTC?Competitive 401(k) plan with company match Comprehensive medical, dental, vision, and prescription coverage Generous vacation, sick leave, holidays, and family medical leave Hybrid work environment with a balance of office, home, and field time Opportunities for advancement, mentorship, and professional development Collaborative, supportive culture committed to quality and safety Benefits:Competitive salary and benefits package.
