Job Overview:
The Safety & Wellness Specialist collaborates with Humanitarian Reception coordinators and Safety & Wellness casework staff to assess client needs, support outreach efforts, and connect individuals to community-based resources. Additional assistance provided across the Phoenix office as needed.
Major Responsibilities:
- Humanitarian Reception Program: Support enrollment for clients based on arrival patterns
- Maintain case files and enter program data
- Provide client support in coordination with the VOCA teamDEPTH Research Project: Identify participants, coordinate outreach, conduct surveys and interviews, and manage participant care
- Provide direct support and services to participants
- Casework Support: Deliver trauma-informed, client-centered services to Safety & Wellness clients
- Assess needs, connect clients to services, and develop referral plans aligned with program eligibility
- Provide light-touch case support, including assessments, crisis support, and referrals for additional resources
- Program & Team Support: Participate in meetings, staff development, and team activities
- Follow all IRC policies and procedures
- Perform other duties as assigned
Job Requirements:
- Bachelor's or advanced degree in Social Work, Human Services or similar field strongly preferred; comparable related work experience may be substituted.2+ years of related work experience; 1-year minimum working with asylum seekers, victims of crime or other vulnerable populations.
- In-depth knowledge of asylum issues, trends, laws, and regulations and understanding of victim perspective and needs
- Case management and/or victims assistance experience preferred
- Experience conducting training and outreach to diverse audiences
- Strong relationship building, diplomacy, and networking skills; ability to effectively build internal and external relationships.
- Self-starter with excellent problem-solving skills combined with the proven ability to multi-task, prioritize duties, and manage time effectively.
- Excellent written and spoken English skills
- Strong organizational skills and detail-oriented
- Excellent writing and analytical skills
- Public Speaking and/or presentation experience preferredAbility to effectively communicate and work as a team member with collaborative partners, the community, and clients in a cross-cultural, multi-disciplinary environment
- Computer literacy, data base experience preferredAbility to work independently and be a flexible team player
- Fluency in written and spoken English, bilingual ability preferred in Spanish, Swahili, Kinyarwanda, Arabic, French or other refugee/immigrant language used in Arizona. Cross-cultural understanding and strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Must have a valid driver's license, active insurance policy, access to reliable transportation and the ability to travel regularly throughout the service delivery area.
- In accordance with Arizona State Law, must possess or be eligible to receive a fingerprint clearance card.
Working Environment:
A combination of standard office environment, remote work, and 'field' time within the service delivery area to perform the above outlined responsibilities.
May require occasional weekend and/or evening work.
Must be able to lift 35 to 50 pounds (furniture, household supplies, and food boxes).
Compensation:
(Pay Range: $23.50/hr) Posted pay ranges apply to US-based candidates. Ranges are based on various factors including the labor market, job type, internal equity, and budget. Exact offers are calibrated by work location, individual candidate experience and skills relative to the defined job requirements.
