Job Title: Materials Engineer
Duration: 6 months contract to hire Citizenship Requirement: US Citizenship required
Shift: 4/10 1st shift
Pay: $60.00 - $76.00/hr on W2!
Job Description: The candidate will review designs of aerospace hardware and evaluate compliance against military specifications such as MIL-STD-11991. They will review electrical and electronic equipment designs, including piece parts, circuit card assemblies, wires and harnesses, and electromechanical assemblies. The candidate must have three (3) years of experience working to MIL-STD-11991 requirements and the developing non-standard part approval requests (NSPARs) to Department of Defense organizations. The candidate must have prior experience interpreting manufacturer datasheets, source control drawings, and Bill of Materials. The candidate must have a strong understanding of key aerospace disciplines such as:corrosion control (galvanics, dissimilar materials, coatings)flammability controloutgassingfundamentals of metal fabrication (sheets, plates, castings, and forgings)fundamentals of composite fabricationA degree in Metallurgical Engineering, Materials Science, Materials Engineering, or Physics is highly recommended. Supports analysis and characterization of metallic and non-metallic materials and processing techniques in order to meet the requirements for procurement design or operation of product. Additional responsibilities may include supporting failure analyses, mechanical testing, corrosion studies, tribological evaluations, and environmental compatibility assessments.
