The Superintendent manages the daily site activities for Foundations projects bySummaryThe Superintendent manages the daily site activities for Foundations projects byensuring the project is constructed in accordance with safety, design, budget, andschedule. The Superintendent directly manages the personnel and craft on eachproject site.
Responsibilities:
Daily contact with job site crews to ensure project time schedule and workforceneeds are being met.
Schedules subcontractors to complete work as needed. Monitors subcontractorwork to ensure work is complete per subcontractor agreement.
Maintains safe working environment by identifying workplace hazards and takingcorrective action when necessary.
Ensures employees have up-to-date information on safety procedures and policies.
Conducts daily Job Hazard Awareness meetings, daily stretching, and weekly ToolBox topics.
Complete daily record keeping including daily logs, equipment schedules, materialschedules, and timecards.
Manages field personnel in fair and equitable manner in accordance with Veitpolicies, procedures, as well as compliance with local and federal laws.
Addresses staff performance issues as they occur.
Participates in pre-construction meetings to discuss project start up and projectplanning. Prepares and participates in regular job site meetings throughout theproject lifecycle.
Provides timely and accurate documentation for reporting safety issues, equipmentdamage and workplace injuries, according to policies and procedures.
Ensures all work follows specified quality standards. Inspects field work for qualitycompliance, materials for quality compliance and review assembly of manufacturer'sliterature and drawings before work begins.
Responds to inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, ormembers of the business community.
Regular participation in training for construction methods and safety. Supportstraining opportunities for staff.
Keeps supervisor informed of known actions, written or verbal, which may affectthe ability to successfully perform assignments or adversely affect companyoperations.
Requirements:
Ten years of experience overseeing a crew responsible for installation of deepfoundation systems. Must have experience installing and/or overseeing,, caissons, substation concrete and helical piles 10+ years' experience with foundation/ground improvement equipment (drills, concrete pumps, cranes).Ability to oversee multiple jobs simultaneously while maintaining a strongcommitment to safety, quality, and schedule. OSHA 30-hour, HAZWOPER certificate, Excavating Safety Training, Blueprint Training, CPR, First Aid. Ability to read, analyze and interpret policies, reports, construction plans, construction specifications, and legal documents. Ability to use Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, iPad and iPhone. Ability to communicate and schedule project needs appropriately. Ability to effectively communicate both oral and written with employees, clients, and other business associates. Must clearly communicate directions andinformation. Must possess the ability to respond to inquiries or complaints fromcustomers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community. Must havegood interpersonal skill and be able to speak effectively before groups as well asindividuals. Ability to work with mathematical concepts. Ability to apply concepts such asfractions, percentages ratios, and proportions to practical field quantity situations. Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical ordiagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables. Must possess the ability to satisfactorily perform each essential duty andresponsibility.
Supervisory Responsibility:
The General Superintendent (Foundations) directly manages the lead personnel and staffon each project site.
OtherMust be able to pass a pre-employment drug test.
Must be able to work 8 to 12-hour workdays, Monday through Friday, withweekends, as needed.
Heavy travel within the country is required.
Must be able to maintain satisfactory Motor Vehicle Record.
Must be over the age of 18.Physical Demands
