Chief Legal Officer

Position Summary: The Chief Legal Officer (CLO) serves as the company’s senior legal leader, responsible for providing strategic legal guidance to the executive team and ensuring effective, risk-aware decision-making across the organization. This role oversees legal matters end-to-end, partnering with internal stakeholders to support operational excellence, compliance, and sound governance. In addition to advising on complex legal issues, the CLO will help build and evolve legal processes that enable the business to move efficiently while staying aligned with applicable laws, regulations, and internal policies. The ideal candidate combines strong legal judgment, executive presence, and a practical, solutions-focused approach.

Key Responsibilities: Provide strategic legal counsel to senior leadership on corporate, contractual, regulatory, employment, and risk-related matters. Oversee the company’s legal operations, including reviewing, negotiating, and managing key agreements and legal documentation. Drive compliance and governance initiatives by establishing clear legal standards, policies, and escalation paths. Lead contract lifecycle management and ensure consistent contracting practices across teams and vendors. Manage legal risk proactively, including assessing potential exposure and recommending mitigation strategies.

Required Qualifications: J.D. and strong experience serving in senior legal or executive-level legal leadership roles. Deep knowledge of corporate legal matters, contract law, and legal risk management. Proven ability to advise executives and influence decisions with clear, actionable recommendations. Demonstrated experience managing complex legal matters across multiple business functions. Preferred Qualifications: Experience supporting growth-oriented organizations and advising on scaling strategies, operational changes, and commercial expansion. Background in employment law, regulatory compliance, and enterprise governance. Track record of developing legal processes and playbooks that improve efficiency and consistency. Experience managing or supervising legal professionals and coordinating outside counsel effectively. Entered in other State Bar Compensation Annual salary: $270,000 - $380,000 Relocation is Not offered.
