The primary focus of this role is the proper handling, installation, and care of plant materials and the preparation, mixing, and application of hydroseeding slurry. This position works under the direction of a Foreman and is expected to develop skills progressively toward independent job performance. Must be able to to operate diesel manual trucks with air brakes and high consideration will be given to applicants with hydroseeding experience.
Core Job Responsibilities:
Hydroseeding Operations Assist in preparing and mixing hydroseeding slurry according to established recipes (seed, mulch, fertilizer, tackifier, and water ratios).Operate hose and spray equipment under foreman direction to apply hydroseed to slopes, disturbed areas, roadside projects, and residential/commercial sites. Operate manual diesel truck with air brakes. Assist with setup, breakdown, filling, and cleaning of hydroseeding equipment and tanks. Follow all application procedures to meet project specifications and NCDOT standards where applicable. Monitor application quality and report inconsistencies to the foreman. Plant Material Handling & Landscape Installation Load, transport, unload, and properly stage plant materials including trees, shrubs, groundcovers, perennials, and sod. Install plant materials according to design plans, spacing requirements, and industry best practices. Perform horticultural tasks including planting, mulching, pruning, grading, and cleanup with minimal direction. Assist with installation of landscape construction elements: gravel and drainage elements. Ensure plant materials are handled to minimize damage and promote healthy establishment. Equipment & Vehicle Operation Operate and maintain a valid driver’s license with a clean driving record; must meet company vehicle insurability requirements. Drive company trucks and trailers to job sites safely and in compliance with all traffic and DOT regulations. Perform daily pre-trip inspections; keep assigned truck fueled, clean, and road-ready. Operate landscape and hydroseeding equipment safely and responsibly; report mechanical issues promptly. Ensure tools and materials are properly loaded, organized, and secured for transport. Company Standards & Expectations Attendance & Punctuality Report to the job site ready to work by 7:30 a.m. Do not be late. Maintain reliable attendance; schedule time off in advance and in accordance with company procedures. Quality & Performance Follow all procedures as taught by the foreman; ask clarifying questions to avoid misunderstandings. Maintain a consistent standard of quality while progressing toward greater efficiency. Take ownership of assigned tasks and small project sections; demonstrate ability to perform work independently over time. Maintain a professional appearance and conduct on all job sites. Safety Follow all OSHA and company safety protocols at all times. Use required personal protective equipment (PPE) for all tasks. Operate tools and equipment safely; never bypass safety guards or procedures. Teamwork & Communication Maintain a positive attitude and work cooperatively with all crew members and supervisors. Communicate proactively with the foreman regarding job progress, materials, or equipment issues. Treat coworkers, clients, and company property with respect at all times.
Minimum Qualifications:
Valid driver’s license with a clean motor vehicle record; must be insurable under company policy. — Required. English-language proficiency (spoken and written). — Required. Bilingual in English and Spanish. — Strongly Preferred. Physical ability to lift 50 lbs. and sustain vigorous outdoor labor in all weather conditions. Ability to learn and perform physical and organized tasks; willingness to develop skills over time. Prior experience in landscape installation, hydroseeding, or related green industry work. — Preferred, not required.
Essential Functions:
(ADA)The incumbent must be: Capable of learning and developing skills of a physical and organized nature. Capable of lifting 50 pounds and performing vigorous, sustained physical labor. Able to maintain a valid driver’s license and company insurability at all times.
Pay: $20.00 - $22.00 per hour Expected hours: 35.0 – 45.0 per week
