I’m working with a well-established engineering consultancy that is looking to add a Senior Instrumentation & Controls Engineer to its growing energy and power generation team. This is a great opportunity for an experienced I&C / Control Systems Engineer who wants to work across technically challenging power and energy projects while having the opportunity to take ownership of design, work directly with clients and support projects through construction and commissioning. The team works across power generation, industrial facilities, CHP, microgrids and other complex energy infrastructure, with projects ranging from new-build facilities to upgrades and modernization of existing plants.
The Role: You’ll be responsible for developing and leading instrumentation and control systems work across multidisciplinary engineering projects.
Key responsibilities will include: Design and development of plant instrumentation and control systems Work with Distributed Control Systems (DCS) and Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs)Develop and review P&IDs, I/O lists, instrument data sheets, cable schedules and procurement specifications Develop and review logic and SAMA diagrams Evaluate existing plant control and instrumentation systems and recommend upgrades or design solutions Prepare engineering calculations, technical specifications and project documentation Support equipment and system procurement, including technical bid evaluations Work closely with electrical, mechanical and other engineering disciplines Provide construction engineering support Support installation, testing and commissioning of control systems Coordinate with designers and technicians to develop engineering drawings Participate in client meetings and provide technical guidance throughout projects Support project estimates, budgets and schedules Mentor and provide technical direction to more junior engineers and designers What We’re Looking For 8+ years of progressive engineering experience, ideally within power generation, energy or complex industrial facilities Bachelor’s degree in Engineering from an ABET-accredited university Electrical Engineering degree preferred Strong experience with instrumentation and controls engineering Experience with DCS and/or PLC-based control systems Strong understanding of P&IDs and control system documentation Experience supporting engineering design through construction and commissioning Comfortable working within multidisciplinary engineering teamsFE/EIT preferredPE license preferred but not required; ability to obtain PE licensure is beneficial Strong communication skills and ability to work directly with clients
