About the Role:
The Company is seeking a General Counsel and Assistant Board Secretary to serve as its chief legal officer and a strategic advisor to the President, CEO, and Executive Leadership Team. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing legal guidance and oversight on a wide range of matters, including but not limited to, board governance, legal and contractual infrastructure, regulatory and tax-exempt compliance, and enterprise risk management. This role requires a seasoned legal professional with at least 10 years of experience, including a background in nonprofit or tax-exempt organization law. The General Counsel will also be involved in shaping the company's strategy, crisis response, and promoting ethical behavior and legal awareness throughout the organization. Key responsibilities for the General Counsel and Assistant Board Secretary include serving as a trusted partner in the pursuit of the company's mission, translating legal requirements into practical guidance, and ensuring compliance with all relevant laws and regulations. The ideal candidate will have a Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school, be licensed to practice law in California, and have a strong understanding of the legal implications of various business and operational activities. They should be a collaborative leader, capable of building trusted relationships, and have the ability to balance legal rigor with practical problem-solving.
