Water/Wastewater Construction Project Manager
Location: San Diego
About the Opportunity: Water/Wastewater Construction Project Manager to lead the successful execution of municipal water and wastewater infrastructure projects. This role will be responsible for managing all aspects of project delivery from preconstruction through commissioning, ensuring projects are completed safely, on schedule, within budget, and to the highest quality standards. The ideal candidate will have experience managing complex treatment plant, pump station, pipeline, and utility infrastructure projects and will possess strong leadership skills, a proactive approach to problem-solving, and the ability to manage multiple stakeholders throughout the project lifecycle.
Responsibilities: -Manage construction projects ranging from $10M to $200M+ within the water and wastewater sector.-Lead project execution from contract award through substantial completion and closeout.-Develop and manage project budgets, schedules, forecasts, and resource plans.-Oversee project engineers, superintendents, field staff, subcontractors, and vendors.-Coordinate with owners, engineers, utility agencies, and regulatory stakeholders.-Manage procurement activities including subcontractor selection, equipment purchases, and long-lead material tracking.-Review and negotiate change orders, subcontract agreements, and project claims.-Ensure compliance with project specifications, contract requirements, quality standards, and safety regulations.-Monitor project financial performance, cost controls, productivity, and risk management.
Required Qualifications: -Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field.-7+ years of experience managing heavy civil, utility, or water/wastewater construction projects.-Experience delivering water treatment plants, wastewater treatment plants, pump stations, lift stations, pipelines, or related infrastructure.-Strong knowledge of construction means and methods within municipal infrastructure projects.-Proven ability to manage project budgets, schedules, subcontractors, and client relationships.-Experience with Primavera P6, Microsoft Project, Procore, or similar construction management software.-Strong understanding of contract administration, change management, and project controls. Excellent communication and leadership skills.
Preferred Qualifications: -Design-Build project experience.-Progressive Design-Build experience.-Experience with treatment plant renovations, plant expansions, biosolids facilities, nutrient removal projects, or large-diameter pipeline construction.-Experience working for an ENR Top 400 contractor or municipal infrastructure contractor.
