We are seeking a motivated, detail-oriented individual to join the team as Manager, Power Origination and Commercial. This role will be responsible for structuring and negotiating power purchase agreements (PPAs) and other offtake arrangements to optimize revenue for the assets. This individual will work closely with the Finance team and other internal teams to evaluate commercial opportunities, develop creative transaction structures, and optimize deal terms to maximize project value and manage risk. This person will also help manage relationships with potential offtakers, including utilities, energy retailers, and corporate customers. This role reports to the VP, Head of Origination.
Key Responsibilities:
Identify and pursue long-term PPAs and other offtake arrangements for operating utility-scale wind, solar and BESS projects Structure and negotiate commercial solutions that balance offtaker requirements with asset profitability In partnership with the Finance team, develop detailed structuring models to evaluate potential PPA structures and pricing scenarios as they relate to revenue and risk exposure Serve as the point of contact for utilities, energy retailers, corporate customers, and other offtakers throughout the negotiation process Build strong relationships and maintain a network to source new origination opportunities Support RFP processes as necessary Work closely with the Finance team to ensure compatibility of PPA structures with financing strategies Collaborate with Legal to negotiate and finalize PPAs and related contract documentation Track and monitor market trends to inform leadership of pricing and origination strategy
Qualifications and Skills:
Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in power marketing, origination, transactions, or project financing within the power or renewable industry Bachelor’s degree in finance, economics, business, engineering, or a related field Demonstrated knowledge of financing structures and how to integrate analytics into PPA contract scenarios Working knowledge of how PPAs interact with project financing strategies Strong understanding of the wholesale power markets, utility RFP processes, and project economics Basic financial modeling skills Excellent written and verbal communication skills, ability to present complex financial and commercial details to leadership teams and external counterparties Preferred Background Working knowledge of PJM, ERCOT, CAISO, SPP and MISO a plusMBA a plus, but not required Familiar with renewable project financing strategies, such as tax equity, debt financing, cash equity Physical and
