A rapidly growing AI infrastructure platform seeking an Energy Lead to support the continued expansion of its data center portfolio
The Role: The Energy Lead will own utility engagement, large-load interconnection, energy supply strategy, and commercial power arrangements across the company’s U.S. data center portfolio. This individual will work with utilities, system operators, energy suppliers, retail power providers, and commercial counterparties to secure capacity, negotiate energy arrangements, and ensure power delivery remains aligned with data center development schedules. The role will work closely with acquisitions, development, engineering, construction, finance, legal, commercial, sustainability, and operations teams to assess prospective sites, manage active utility and interconnection processes, and provide clear recommendations on power cost, schedule, delivery risk, and commercial structure.

Key Responsibilities: Own commercial relationships with utilities, energy suppliers, retail power providers, and system operators across active U.S. markets Lead large-load interconnection processes from initial engagement through studies, cost estimates, executed agreements, and energization Negotiate utility service agreements, retail power contracts, PPAs, energy supply agreements, tariffs, and related commercial arrangements Evaluate utility tariffs, rate structures, interconnection costs, transmission requirements, delivery timelines, and power price exposure Develop site-specific energy strategies aligned with capacity requirements, cost targets, customer demand, and delivery schedules Partner with acquisitions and development teams to assess power availability and cost before site commitments are made Support power procurement strategy, including utility-supplied capacity, retail supply, PPAs, and other energy supply structures Track schedule, cost, regulatory, interconnection, and delivery risks across active energy workstreams Coordinate with engineering, construction, finance, legal, sustainability, commercial, and operation steams Maintain reporting on utility engagement, queue position, power cost, agreement status, and delivery milestones Essential Experience Direct experience managing utility engagement, energy supply strategy, and large-load interconnection for data center projects is strongly preferred 5+ years of experience across energy, utilities, power procurement, power development, data centers, or large-scale infrastructure Strong understanding of utility service agreements, retail power contracts, PPAs, tariffs, interconnection studies, and power-delivery timelines Experience negotiating utility agreements, retail supply agreements, PPAs, energy supply contracts, or similar commercial power arrangements Experience developing reliable power-cost estimates and commercial energy strategies for large-load customers Ability to manage multiple active projects across different utilities, regions, or power markets Strong understanding of how power availability, cost, schedule, tariff structure, and interconnection risk influence data center site development Experience working cross-functionally across development, acquisitions, engineering, finance, legal, construction, sustainability, and operations teams
