Role Description: This full-time, on-site Real Estate Attorney role is based in the Des Moines Metropolitan Area. The attorney will draft, review, and negotiate commercial real estate contracts, leases, and related transactional documents. Daily responsibilities include conducting legal research, performing due diligence for acquisitions and developments, assessing title and land use issues, and advising clients on regulatory and compliance matters. The role involves collaborating with colleagues across practice areas, interacting directly with clients, and managing real estate matters from initial structuring through closing. The attorney will also support ongoing real estate development projects and help resolve disputes related to commercial properties when they arise.
Qualifications: Strong foundation in Law, with demonstrated experience in real estate-related legal matters. Proficiency in Commercial Real Estate transactions and Real Estate Development projects. Ability to draft, review, and negotiate Leases and other real estate agreements. Experience conducting Due Diligence, including title review, zoning analysis, and risk assessment. Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school and active license to practice law in Iowa, or eligibility for admission. Excellent analytical, drafting, and negotiation skills, with strong attention to detail. Ability to manage multiple matters, meet deadlines, and collaborate effectively with clients and colleagues. Prior law firm or in-house real estate experience is preferred; background in commercial development or finance is a plus.
