Role Description:
The Payroll Manager is a part-time, remote role responsible for overseeing accurate and timely payroll processing for assigned employee groups. Day-to-day tasks include managing payroll cycles, reviewing employee time and attendance data, and ensuring correct application of payroll taxes, garnishments, and deductions. The role will coordinate with HR and finance teams on employee benefits, compensation changes, and compliance with relevant labor and tax regulations. The Payroll Manager will also maintain payroll records, respond to employee payroll inquiries, and support audits and reporting requirements. This position requires strong attention to detail, confidentiality, and the ability to work independently while collaborating virtually with cross-functional stakeholders.
Qualifications:
Strong skills in Payroll Administration and Payroll Management, including end-to-end payroll processing and system use. Knowledge of Garnishments and Payroll Taxes, with the ability to apply federal, state, and local regulations accurately. Experience managing Employee Benefits as they relate to payroll, including deductions and benefit-related reporting. Proficiency with payroll software and HRIS systems, and solid skills in Microsoft Excel or similar tools for data analysis. Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving abilities, with high accuracy and respect for confidentiality. Effective written and verbal communication skills and the ability to collaborate with remote, cross-functional teams. Prior experience in payroll or finance roles; experience in a large, multi-state or global organization is an advantage. Relevant certification (e.g., Certified Payroll Professional) or a degree in Accounting, Finance, HR, or a related field is preferred.
