Position Overview: We are seeking an experienced HR Generalist to support the day-to-day administrative and operational functions of the Human Resources department. This position will play an important role in employee relations, onboarding and offboarding, benefits and leave administration, HR compliance, employee records, recruiting support, and HR reporting. Reporting to the HR Manager, the HR Generalist will work closely with employees, management, Payroll, and outside HR vendors to ensure HR processes are handled accurately, efficiently, and confidentially.
The ideal candidate will have: 2–4 years of well-rounded Human Resources experience, strong knowledge of employment laws and HR best practices, and hands-on experience with benefits and leave administration.
Key Responsibilities: Perform HR and administrative functions supporting daily Human Resources operations. Maintain accurate employee information and HR data within company systems. Manage electronic employee files while ensuring confidentiality and proper recordkeeping. Coordinate the onboarding and offboarding process, including employee paperwork, orientations, and related documentation. Assist with benefits administration and respond to employee questions regarding medical benefits and leave programs. Support administration of FMLA, PFL, STD, LTD, COBRA, and other employee leave programs. Process benefits-related billing and payments accurately and timely. Complete employment verifications and assist with unemployment claims. Partner with Payroll regarding salary adjustments, employee status changes, and other HR-related updates. Coordinate employee training sessions and support the performance review process. Prepare HR reports, documentation, and records to support compliance requirements and audits. Ensure compliance with applicable federal, state, and local employment laws. Provide employees with guidance regarding HR policies, procedures, and programs. Support recruiting efforts, including communicating with candidates and preparing offer letters. Work with hiring managers and department leaders throughout the hiring and onboarding process. Maintain confidentiality and professionalism when handling sensitive employee information. Assist with special HR projects and process improvement initiatives. Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field preferred.2–4 years of Human Resources experience required. Construction industry experience is a plus. Strong understanding of HR practices, employment laws, and compliance requirements. Hands-on experience with employee records, onboarding, offboarding, benefits administration, and leave management. Experience supporting FMLA, PFL, STD, LTD, COBRA, and unemployment claims preferred. Experience with Viewpoint or a similar HRIS/payroll system preferred. Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Excel, Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint. Strong organizational and time-management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Strong attention to detail and follow-through. Ability to maintain confidentiality and professionally handle sensitive employee information. Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively within a fast-paced team environment.
Work Environment: This position operates primarily in a professional office environment and involves frequent use of a computer, phone, and other standard office equipment. Flexibility may be required during periods of increased HR activity, including open enrollment, onboarding initiatives, audits, and special projects. The position may require occasional lifting or moving of files, boxes, or office supplies weighing approximately 15–25 pounds.
