Senior Hydrogeologist – Commercial & Industrial Remediation Lead Remote/Hybrid | $130,000–$180,000 base + performance bonus Harper Harrison is supporting an established national environmental consultancy with the appointment of a Senior Hydrogeologist to help grow and deliver its California investigation and remediation portfolio. This position combines technical leadership, project management and client development. It would suit an experienced California consultant who wants greater influence over client strategy and practice growth while remaining involved in project delivery. You will not be expected to build from nothing. The business already has active projects, national-account relationships and a team of mid-level and junior professionals available to support delivery.
The Opportunity: Lead environmental investigation and remediation projects throughout California. Develop relationships with larger commercial and industrial clients. Target sectors including manufacturing, aerospace, energy and other complex industrial environments. Manage project scope, budgets, schedules, staffing and technical deliverables. Lead proposals, presentations and client-development activities. Provide senior hydrogeologic guidance across site characterization and groundwater-remediation programs. Mentor geologists, engineers, scientists and technical staff. Work alongside national account and technical leaders to pursue larger strategic opportunities. Help shape the growth of the California environmental practice.
Required Experience: Approximately 10–20 years of geology, hydrogeology or environmental consulting experience. Active California Professional Geologist (PG) or Certified Hydrogeologist (CHg) credential. Strong experience in contaminated-site investigation and environmental remediation. Ability to perform and oversee hydrogeologic evaluations and groundwater investigations. Successful project-management experience, including budget and team responsibility. Demonstrated ability to develop client relationships, secure work or expand existing accounts. Knowledge of California regulatory programs, including DTSC and California Water Boards. Experience working within CERCLA and/or RCRA frameworks. Ability to lead multidisciplinary technical teams and communicate effectively with clients and regulators.
Particularly Relevant Experience: Commercial and industrial client relationships in California. Aerospace, manufacturing or energy-sector remediation programs. Phase I and Phase II environmental investigations. In-situ injection or other groundwater-remediation techniques. Conceptual site models, aquifer testing and site characterization. Groundwater or fate-and-transport modeling. Leadership of large multidisciplinary investigation and remediation programs. Responsibility for proposals, backlog development or account growth. Location and Compensation The role can be performed remotely within California The anticipated base salary is $130,000–$180,000, depending on experience. Additional flexibility may be available for an exceptional candidate, alongside a potentially substantial performance-based bonus.
