Senior Accountant (42976)Our client is an organization in the Greater Milwaukee area looking for a Senior Accountant. Our client is looking for someone with a strong general accounting foundation, excellent attention to detail, and the ability to take ownership of accounting processes from start to finish. This position offers a blend of traditional accounting responsibilities and fund operations, making it a great opportunity for someone who enjoys variety and wants broad exposure across the accounting function. The salary range for this position is $80k–100k. The Senior Accountant will be responsible for, but not limited to, the following:
RESPONSIBILITIES: Take ownership of the monthly close process, ensuring accounting activities are completed accurately and within established deadlines. Prepare and post journal entries and maintain supporting documentation for general ledger activity. Complete balance sheet and other account reconciliations while researching and resolving discrepancies. Manage daily accounting transactions and ensure financial activity is recorded accurately and timely. Support fund-related accounting and operational activities, including monitoring transactions, cash activity, and account balances. Maintain accurate general ledger records and review account activity for completeness and accuracy. Prepare financial schedules, reports, and analyses to support internal reporting and business needs. Monitor cash activity and assist with banking and other treasury-related transactions as needed. Partner with internal teams and external parties to gather information and resolve accounting or fund-related questions. Support quarterly and annual reporting requirements and assist with audit requests. Maintain appropriate documentation and ensure adherence to accounting policies and internal controls. Identify opportunities to streamline accounting processes, improve reporting, and increase overall efficiency. Take ownership of assigned projects and proactively follow issues through resolution. Support additional accounting and fund operations responsibilities as business needs evolve. The Senior Accountant will possess the following:
EXPERIENCE REQUIRED: Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred.2+ years of progressive accounting experience required. Strong hands-on experience with general ledger accounting, journal entries, account reconciliations, and month-end close. Experience with fund accounting, investment accounting, financial services, or similar operations is a plus but not required. Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting. Experience working with ERP or accounting systems and proficiency with Microsoft Excel. Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with strong attention to detail. Demonstrated ability to independently own accounting processes and meet established deadlines. Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple responsibilities and changing priorities. Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively across teams. Self-motivated and proactive with a willingness to take on a broad range of accounting and operational responsibilities.
