Senior Estimator/ Preconstruction Manager

This is not a takeoff only position. Alleato Group is looking for a senior estimator who is tired of being handed a completed drawing set and asked to produce a number. We want preconstruction involved early enough to influence design, constructability, procurement, value engineering, and schedule, which is where project economics are decided. You will work directly with executive leadership. You will see every pursuit, not the ones assigned to you. You will own the number you put your name on. What you will own Conceptual, schematic, design development, and final estimates through GMP or proposal Subcontractor solicitation, bid leveling, scope gap review, and buyout strategy Cost analysis, value engineering, constructability input, and pricing strategy Preconstruction coordination with owners, architects, engineers, project managers, and subcontractors Alleato's estimating standards, historical cost database, and preconstruction process as the company grows Who we are looking for You have prepared complete estimates yourself for commercial projects over $10 million and can defend every line in a room with an owner. Seven or more years with a commercial general contractor is the target, though we care more about what you have personally owned than about the number. Design build and negotiated work experience is highly desirable, since that is where most of our work sits. Bluebeam, Procore, estimating software, Excel, and subcontractor bid management are expected. Software is the easy part. We want someone who understands construction, finds the scope gaps before bid day, knows the subcontractor market, and can hold a number under pressure. Why this role instead of a larger firm At a large general contractor, you are one of several estimators working the pursuits handed to you, with no say in what the company chases or how it prices. That is a fine job. It is not this one. Alleato is at the stage where one qualified person can build the preconstruction department rather than inherit it. You will have direct access to company leadership, real influence over which projects we pursue and how we price them, and a clear path to leading the preconstruction organization as we grow. Very few larger firms can offer that to anyone below a vice president. If you want more scope than your current seat gives you, this is worth a conversation.
