Senior Publicist (Writer) - UnionWalt Disney Studios Motion Picture Marketing is a dynamic, results-driven marketing team responsible for positioning films and streaming content released by Disney. This organization oversees the Studios' global marketing strategy, encompassing creative, media, digital, international, promotions, publicity, research, special events, and synergy, and handles some the most valuable film brands and franchises of all time. Thanks in large part to the efforts of the marketing team, the Walt Disney Studios has set numerous records at the box office, including being the first and only studio to surpass $3 billion domestically and $7 billion globally in a calendar year. This position oversees all written materials for publicity campaigns for theatrical and streaming content. Responsibilities include developing and implementing written materials from start of production all the way through release. Writer will collaborate with filmmakers and legal, as well as internal stakeholders across the marketing organization. The role requires strong writing skills with proficiency in American English grammar and AP style, organizational skills, communication skills, and the ability to work effectively in a team environment. This is an IATSE Local 600 Publicist Guild position covered by a collective bargaining agreement. Please include writing samples/links to your work for consideration.
Responsibilities: Draft and support other writers to draft/edit:film or series synopses/project profilescharacter descriptions/fun factstalking pointspress releases and blasts; tip sheetstalent and filmmaker Q&Asproduction notes and production briefstalent and filmmaker bios (edit and format)generic questions for press eventsmetadata; photo captionsawards synopses and other specialized needs for awards seasongeneric features/research and/or legacy written featuresreview/edit pieces drafted for internal or promotion-based publicationsproofreading as requestedother writing duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications: 5+ years of experience in writing. Publicity and/or entertainment experience. Demonstrate excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills. Proficient in Google Suite, Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Keynote and AP style. Ability to work effectively in a team environment. Ability to handle confidential and sensitive information. Ability to exercise good judgment and use discretion. A self-starter: able to take initiative and proactively problem solve. Ability to work with limited supervision. Strong organizational, team building and relationship skills. Ability to prioritize effectively in a fast-paced environment. Demonstrated flexibility and professionalism in an environment where change is constant. Detail oriented. The pay rate for this position in California is $3266.20 per week based on a 56-hour work week.
